Baby and Toddler Teacher Position

The Vashon Maury Cooperative Preschool (VMCP) is seeking a teacher for our Baby and Toddler classes. Our cooperative preschool program has a rich, long-standing history in our community. Currently we are looking for a dynamic, community-oriented, and creative teacher to teach the Tots class starting September 2026.
Both Baby and Toddler classes meet with their parents/caregivers once weekly for 1.5 and 2 hours respectively. Our teacher is paid for class time plus preparation and clean up hours. Total hours for this position will average 6 hours per week including class time, set-up, and preparation. The classes are planned to be held on Wednesdays from 9am-1pm (9-11am Toddler, 11:30am-1pm Baby). Additional hours potentially available based on school programming.
The teacher provides an environment for children to grow emotionally, intellectually, socially, and physically. The teacher provides the parents with direction and serves as a model for working with young children.
We are looking for someone who will:
- plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for the children, in collaboration with the VMCP Head Teacher and the Co-op program
- establish a predictable but flexible schedule for the children that allows for a balance of active and quiet play
- take responsibility for organizing materials and resources for the children’s activities
- provide curriculum plans and orient parents to the role of co-teacher
- spend class time observing and guiding children, participating in and planning activities
- supervise parents in the daily operation of the classroom
- set-up & take down classroom furniture/materials each week
